Neighborhood overview

This tropical island is known for its iconic dinosaur-shaped cliff. You may have seen the picture of it, yet you probably haven’t noticed that this island is still part of Bali, and it only takes 30 minutes to sail from the Bali mainland.

Penida is famous for its crystal blue water beaches and its mantas. Besides, their untouched nature also attracts tourists to visit this island. Moreover, there are two islands located alongside Nusa Penida, they are Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan, where you can also feel a little bit of a private island and an untouched shoreline along these two tiny islands.

Getting Around

Nusa Penida is only 30 minutes away by a fast boat from Bali. Visitors who want to go to Penida must book their fast boat in advance. There are several ports you can choose from, yet, we highly recommend you to go to Penida from Sanur harbor, as they have a good and modern supply boat.

There are two ways to get around in Penida. You can use a scooter to move Penida once you get there. You can rent a motorbike from one of the several bike rentals available in the port; the daily rate is IDR 50.000. Please be aware that Penida’s roads are not as smooth as Bali’s. Some of the routes in Penida’s hidden treasures are quite steep, and some of the roads are still in disrepair. So make sure you can ride a scooter very well before coming here.

For those who can’t ride or drive a bike, worry not! Local people in Penida also rent their cars with a local driver. We highly recommend you book a car in advance as the driver will pick you up once you have arrived at Penida port, drive you to your bucket list destinations, and give you more information about the island along the road!
